A brief overview with some photos.

Kiln-fired carving into fritted glass

Every piece I make is singular.

Using a resist (mask) on the glass, I carve each one by hand.

SAMPLES: A ‘low-fire’ (left) is an opaque finish; A high-fire (right) is a clearer finish

By doing it this way, I can create and maintain defined, faceted edges throughout the process.

IMHO, this is the superior way to catch and refract light.

An added benefit is that once the panel has been kiln-fired, when planned for, it can be tempered for further strength (for use in architectural application).

Pure light through glass! 😉

OK – I did turn this photo taken at sunset, sideways. that “fretboard” is from sunlight coming through blinds.. 😉
